High Waisters…

I tried a new shampoo with way too hot water and the result was my hair ended up a big tangled, knotty mess. I had been contemplating dressing up as Diana Ross for Halloween, so I kind of needed big hair. But what I have in these pictures is not good, I’m getting scared again just looking at it.

 As I had the big hair I decided to channel my inner foxy brown and paired this denim high waisted skirt with a silk paisley print blouse. I haven’t worn the heels in quite some time, I forgot how comfortable they are. They will be heading back into rotation so expect more outfit posts with them on. Luckily my hairdresser was able to save the day, and I got a relaxing head massage out of it :-) .

For my last day in the office before a much needed long weekend, I wanted to wear my beetle necklace again. So playing of the colours in the necklace I paired this printed silk top with one of my chiffon maxi skirts. The colours together reminded me of a bag of skittles, sweet enough to eat ;-)

The weekend has been perfect, but catching up on my magazines left me unable to make any decisions regarding dinner. In the end I wanted Chinese and Mr R wanted Indian, so we compromised and had Mexican instead :-) .

It’s so humid in Dubai, you can’t be outside for too long without feeling like you didn’t have a long enough shower, hence the grumpy face.

This skirt is easy to wear and doesn’t cling in the humidity. With the red Zara tote I snagged from the sales, I had a bright start to the work week.

Work was beyond manic during the week, so I needed a girls night out at Trader Vic’s, in Madinat Jumeirah to unwind. I got the scallop edge shorts from eBay, and love them paired with a bug belt from ASOS.As I was going to be drinking cocktails all night, I decided to take a walk on the wild side with my Charlotte Olympia heels :-) .

I loved the Chloe pleated silk georgette dress that Jessica Stam was photographed wearing in March. It’s available on net-a-porter for $2,747.50, currently marked down by 50% from the original price.

Instead I am waiting for Reiss to receive Erin, a long maxi dress with slits at the side. At $465 it isn’t a cheap alternative, but I do think it’s a much more wearable option.

If it doesn’t launch in Dubai, I’ll have to hope the eBay gods have got my back.

Dress: Aubin & Wills; Bag: Reiss; Wedges: Elie Tahari

I had always been adamant that I wouldn’t wear red as I didn’t think the colour suited me. However, this all changed when I came across the Aubin & Wills website. I ended up with a major crush on pretty much everything on their site, including this dress.It looked more like a coral red to me, so I took a chance and I’m glad I did. It is a cotton/linen mix and perfect for the hot weather in Dubai.On the way out to the Belgian Beer Cafe at Dubai Festival City, Mr R commented “that colour really suits you”.

Guess I can do red :-)
