Here are another set of pictures that didn’t make it onto the blog before. I have a bunch that were saved on a flash drive that got misplaced. So even though the weather didn’t let me take any blog pictures at the weekend, it’s given me a chance to post the one’s that got away ;-) .

Happy Sunday Everyone :-)

The weather has been terrible in Dubai this weekend, to the extent that it actually rained. I actually kind of liked it as it meant I had to have a lazy weekend. Something about leaving somewehere hot means you feel obligated to always do something.

As I was going through my laptop I found some outfit posts that for some reason I had forgotten to put on the blog. Guess that’s the problem with always rushing around…sometimes things get missed. Anyway hope you’re having a good weekend too :-)

Top: Zara;  Belt: Aldo;  Trousers: Zara (last seen here);  Sunglasses: Dior  Bag: Alexander Wang;  Heels: Guiseppe Zanotti;  Jewellery: D&G/Thomas Sabo;  Watch: Raymond Weil;  Nails: Chanel Fantastic

This top has a very boxy shape, so I added the belt to give myself some definition at the waist and I kept everything else quite fitted. As I don’t own a lot of black I’m kind of limited in the way’s I can wear this top. So I now need to come up with two more ways to wear this top with things that already exist in my wardrobe.

I’m thinking to treat it like a jacket to see if it helps me get over the styling block

Double Denim…

IMG_4722 IMG_4681 IMG_4719 Shirt: Stradivarius (last seen here); Skirt: Reiss (last seen here); Hat: Aldo; Sunglasses: Amazon; Clutch: Fendi Chameleon Belted Clutch; Heels: Christian Louboutin Luly; Jewellery: J Crew/Agatha; Rings: Reiss; Nails: Chanel Pulsion

This season denim on denim is a huge trend, so I took inspiration from Rihanna and used what I already had in my closet to put this modern 90′s outfit together. As I’m not a baseball cap wearer, the fedora gives a more feminine touch. I got the Fendi clutch a few months ago in one of their private sales, and I love the vintage look of it against the denim skirt.

To finish the look I brought out the mary janes, and honestly I’m starting to like them more and more. For those of you new to my blog, I previously posted about how I was struggling to style them. So I gave myself a challenge of creating three looks with them, and after the three looks I would need to decide whether to keep or sell. Let’s just say after this they look like they are here to stay ;-)

Update: I submitted this look as part of the IFB denim challenge, check out some of the other looks. http://heartifb.com/2013/04/27/ifb-project-93-share-your-favorite-denim-look/

Dress: Aubin & Wills (last seen here);  Necklace: Zara;  Bag: Chanel;  Booties;  Zara;  Jewellery: Agatha;  Ring: Accessorize;

Re-reading the blog post for this dress made me realise that I have gone from being scared of the colour red to now embracing it. I’ve managed to introduce quite a few pieces into my wardrobe over the last year. It is such an empowering colour to wear, especially when you want to get things done quickly.

As I had a short weekend (I was flying to Milan for work), I didn’t have a lot of time to get things done. This dress is easy to wear, and I don’t have to think too hard about. It’s also a great reminder to keep an open mind and not pigeon hole myself by sticking to specific colours or silhouettes.

Staying Neutral…

I love the idea of maxi dresses for the summer, and last year I was beyond obsessed with the Reiss Erin. But I’m not a big maxi dress wearer, and the one maxi dress that I own is plain and easy to dress up or down. I’ve realised that a print maxi dress is not for me as it’s not really my style and not only would it be a waste of money but I’d only wear once.

That is probably why I love this outfit combination. The colour on the side panel of the blouse matches perfectly with the skirt making it look like a dress. It’s a much more versatile way of creating a maxi dress look that is appropriate for work or even the weekend. I see this becoming a go to outfit as the weather gets hotter in Dubai.

Leggy Leopard…

I love how Dolce & Gabbana/D&G mix leopard prints with floral prints, but I’m not brave enough to do a complete head to toe look like they do. So I decided to add to my red and leopard pairing these floral pumps. It’s a great way for me to dip my toe into print mixing without feeling uncomfortable. Maybe one day I’ll be brave enough to wear a floral top with these leopard trousers. How about you, are you brave enough to do head to toe print mixing?

I can’t believe I haven’t taken any blog pictures with my Celine Nano. I got it in January for my birthday and its been my go to weekend bag ever since. I love the fact that I can wear it as a cross body bag when I need my hands to be free. But at the same time I can remove the strap and use it as a mini tote. Also the colour means I can keep what I’m wearing quite neutral and let the bag speak for me ;-)

This is one of my favourite print tops, but I didn’t want to wear a jacket to work, so I decided to layer my pink peplum blouse underneath it. It’s a great way for me to add a bit more pink to the whole outfit without it being too much. Next time I want to wear both peices with a skirt so you can see more of the peplum of the blouse underneath it.

Blouse: Warehouse;  Skirt: Whistles (last seen here and here);  Sunglasses: Amazon;  Bag: Fendi Chameleon Duffle Tote;  Shoes: Christian Louboutin Luly;  Jewellery: Agatha/Chanel;  Nails: Chanel Fantastic

Over the weekend as the weather wasn’t that great, I decided to spend some time organising my closet. There are pieces that I will be selling online, which I will keep you updated on. But there were also items that I just wasn’t sure about. So I set myself a challenge to wear these items three more times and if I’m still not sure after that, then let them go.

The first item that I’m not sure about are these Christian Louboutin Luly Mary Jane shoes. They are more comfortable than your usual Louboutin shoes but I seem to have had a styling mental block. I think the white platform at the toes has been throwing me. So I decided to treat it like just a normal tan shoe and wear with this navy check pencil skirt. The check comprises of brown, burgundy and blue which are the same colours that are in the printed blouse. Now to plan what my next outfit will be with these shoes :-0
