The queen of pop is due to perform in Abu Dhabi on June 3rd and 4th as part of her 2012 World tour. In advance of her arrival, Burjuman has secured for the first time in the Middle East, from May 24 to June 06, “The Simply Madonna Exhibition”. This exclusive exhibition of over 60 iconic personal items spans Madonna’s 25 years in music and film. Between May 27 and 31st die hard Madonna fans also have an opportunity to dip their hands into their pockets if they like what they see and take home with them so memorabilia.
Saks are also offering a chance to win Madonna’s personal baseball cap valued at 12,000 aed on any purchase of 3000 aed or more. I wish they had offered something cooler than a baseball cap for 3000 aed minimum purchase. For those not interested in the cap, if they make a purchase of 1500 aed or more they have the chance to win 4 premium golden concert tickets for June 4th. Those tickets per person are worth over 1000 aed, so in my opinion the better option.
I haven’t been willing to splash my cash and get a ticket for her concert, but I did want to have a look at the exhibition. I went into Saks first and was really impressed with their window displays. The reinterpretation of classic Madonna with their current range was well executed.
Luckily as the exhibition was calling me, I was able to ignore all the nice things in the store as I ran out of Saks. The exhibition starts with costumes from the movie Evita and I loved the white mink cape and classic 40’s skirt suit.

Following on from the movie costumes were music video costumes, from my all time favourite “Material Girl”.
“Like A Prayer”
“American Pie” “Music”
“Open Your Heart Bustier” Reinvention Tour Shrug
There were also stills from Desperatly Seeking Susan.
As well as Billboard and MTV music awards and Platinum disc records.
The personal effects ranged from jewellery to her divorce petition from Sean Penn and a love letter. But it was cool to see her high school year book picture.
If you get time and are passing by Burjuman, stop by and pay a visit.
